Cost of Attendance for 2012-13

Cost of attendance includes tuition, books and supplies, room and board, transportation and miscellaneous (personal) expenses. The Office of Financial Aid uses cost of attendance to determine your financial aid award.

What are the estimated undergraduate costs for a full time student?

These estimated costs assume that you have no dependants when you are attending Evergreen and that you are registered for 10 to 18 credits each quarter. It also doesn't matter where you live-on or off campus-during the time that you are at college. These costs cover the nine-month academic year that starts in September and ends in June.

Are there additional fees?

In addition to tuition, there are five mandatory fees for students that are collected every quarter.

  1. College Activities Building Renovation Fee $5.75 per credit / $115.00 maximum
  2. Intercity Transit (Bus) $1.10 per credit / $13.20 maximum
  3. Clean Energy $1.00 per credit / $20.00 maximum
  4. Late Night Transit (Bus) $3.00 flat fee for all students regardless of credit load
  5. Health Center $68.00 flat fee for students registered for 10 to 20 credits

There is one voluntary fee that is collected every quarter if you choose to contribute:

The office of Student Financial Services is the central billing unit for the college.

If you are a student attending either the Tacoma Program or the Tribal: Reservation-Based Program, your College Activities Building (CAB) renovation fee, bus and health center fees are automatically waived. However, if any portion of your registered credit load includes a course/class offered on the Olympia Campus, these fees will be included.

If you are studying abroad or are registered via individual contract or internship, you must submit a written request to have the bus and health center fees waived for the quarter that you are abroad or on contract. Please send you letter requesting a waiver of these fees to:

What do I have to do to become a resident of Washington state?

To be considered a Washington state resident for tuition and fee purposes, you must establish residency in Washington primarily for purposes other than education for one year before enrolling.

If you are a nonresident and would like to apply for residency, you must submit the application to change your status. The Office of Registration and Records processes these applications and provides residency information. Please contact Registration and Records at (360) 867-6180 with your questions.

May I pay my tuition online?

Yes, you may pay your tuition as well as your housing and meal plans online. Your student account is created after your have been formally admitted to Evergreen. Find out your default Evergreen login name and password.

Next, go to my.evergreen.edu and use your login and password.

You may use American Express, Discover and MasterCard credit cards to pay tuition, fees, course-related expenses and room and board charges. There is a 2.75% fee added to this transaction to make an online credit card payment. VISA credit cards are not accepted. A secure electronic check payment option, also called electronic funds transfer - with no processing fee - is also available online.

Note: you may wish to change your password from the default password created by the college after your have logged in. If you experience problems with the login, you can troubleshoot by going to login help.

Are there other payment methods?

Yes, there are two options for you to use if online payment isn't a good choice for you.

  1. Mail. Write your name and student identification number on the check or money order, include the billing statement and send your payment to:

  1. In-person. You may pay by cash, check, money order or debit card. The debit card must display either the MasterCard or VISA card trademark symbol. The Cashier's Office is located on the first floor of the Library Building. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Credit card payments will not be accepted as an in-person payment at the Cashier's Office.

Telephone payments are not accepted.

When is tuition due?

Tuition and fees are billed quarterly by mail if you are pre-registered. Payments in full must be in the Cashier's Office by 4:00 p.m. on the deadline for each quarter — postmarks are not considered as meeting the payment deadline. If payment is not received, you will be assessed a $50 late payment fee. This late payment fee will not be applied to your student account if you receive financial aid.
